Training Program Launched with Ministry of Health

AHD/Saludesa launched the Ministry of Health (MOH) residency program on January 13th! The MOH of Ecuador had asked us to help train their non-residency trained physicians in Family Medicine. In partnership with the Catholic University of Ecuador, we are training 100 of the 800 physicians being trained across the country.  AHD educates doctors using medical simulation technology and with a curriculum designed in partnership with JUMP Simulation in Peoria, IL and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.

The photos below are from the first two weeks of orientation.  All of the teachers you see are graduates from our own program, and more have joined us since then.  Doctors are trained on our new Hesburgh Hospital campus in Santo Domingo in the newly constructed Ronald McDonald House Training Center. This is a big moment for Ecuador: right now there are 20,000 doctors in the country, but only 4,000 are residency trained. AHD is raising the standard.
